Lina P. Valsamidou is a PhD candidate in ‘Communication and New Journalism’ at the Open University of Cyprus, holds an MA in ‘Communication and Journalism’ of the same University. She also holds an MSc in ‘Cultural Studies and New Technologies’ from the University of Western Macedonia and an MSc in ‘Gender and New Educational and Labor Environments in the Information Society’ of the University of the Aegean. She has worked for many years as a journalist and a television producer in TV Macedonia and ET3, as a public education teacher, while her journalistic articles have been published in newspapers and magazines of Thessaloniki. She has worked as a researcher in research programs of the Department of Journalism and Mass Media of the Pedagogic Department of Pre-School Education at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the University of Western Macedonia. Her academic articles have been published in Greek and foreign journals, collective volumes, and proceedings of conferences. Her research interests include media education, media literacy, gender and disability representations in the media and new technologies in education.
